Chocolate Cherry Sauce

We ran across some fresh cherries and decided to try making some kind of dessert with them.

This sauce was so fun to try and make and turned out so good. 


2 cups pitted cherries
1.5 ounce maple syrup
2 tablespoons vanilla rum
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 teaspoon corn starch


Put cherries, cocoa powder, maple syrup and 1/2 of the vanilla rum in a sauce pan.

Stir well and simmer until the cherries soften to desired consistency.

In a separate bowl, mix the remaining rum and cornstarch to make a slurry.

Add slurry to the sauce and heat until thickened.
